Being one of the oldest utensils in Meso-American tradition, the Mexican ‘Molcajete', or mortar and pestle, has been, and is used to crush and mix salsas made of spices and guacamole as much as it is used to blend grains and seeds together into convenient pastes. Both useful and decorative in any assortment of kitchens and restaurants with its Authentic Craft. This “Pig-Head” Molcajete comes crafted and decorated with a 2” Small Pig-Head or face that is shaped into the Molcajete itself. Unique in design, this fine piece of kitchen-ware surely will add up to that Authentic and festive touch and feel to your Kitchen. Before culinary use, the Molcajete should be seasoned by grinding, curing ingredients such as but not limited to uncooked rice, garlic and salt and white bread against the the Molcajete and both sides of the Tejolote to fill the crevices of the lava rock. After curing, the Molcajete is used by simply pressing the ‘Tejelote' against the ingredients, grinding them altogether inside the Molcajete, effectively breaking down every element into a soft blend.
